About Taiwan MaKuang Hospital Healthcare Network

Our partnership with Ma Kuang Healthcare Network gives students an amazing chance to experience one of Taiwan’s most respected and well-established Traditional Chinese Medicine networks. Founded in 1990 in Magong City, Penghu County, Ma Kuang is named after its hometown—"Ma Kuang" meaning "in the glory of Magong."

Since then, Ma Kuang has expanded to over 34 clinics across Taiwan, Singapore, and China, blending classical Chinese medicine with modern, well-organised clinical systems. Their clinics specialise in everything from acupuncture and herbal medicine to gynecology, pediatrics, trauma care, and stroke rehab—all with a patient-focused and structured approach.

This collaboration means UKTATM students get front-row access to real clinical settings, learn directly from top Taiwanese doctors, and see how tradition and innovation work hand in hand at one of Asia’s leading TCM networks.

While the lectures and clinical observation are key aspects of the Taiwan trip, we also want students to experience the rich culture surrounding the practice of Chinese medicine in Taiwan.

You’ll have the chance to visit the Shuntian Botanical Garden, where you can stroll through lush landscapes, learn about Taiwanese herbs, plants, and the local ecology. There’s also a black tea workshop where you’ll discover the art of brewing and enjoy a taste of Taiwan’s famous black tea.

Additionally, students will embark on excursions around the stunning island, including the renowned night markets in Taipei, the serene Sun Moon Lake, the historic Jiufen Old Street, a fishing port, and the iconic Taipei 101. On the final day, there will be free time to explore Taiwan at your own pace.
